Educational Technology

27 02 2008

Hello world. For my first post, I want to discuss my goal for this site. As an educator working with teachers, administrators and students on integrating technology to improve teaching and learning for the past ten years, I find one area I have let go is one location to post ideas and resources that I come across in my travels. Thus comes the creation of this site. I hope to bring timely resources and uses of tools to out in ways that may have not been thought of before. Also, I look forward to those who have not only thought of them before, but have used those ideas and have ideas of their own to share.

A note about the Bodhi leaf pictured above. Bodhi means being awake, enlightened, supreme knowledge. The leaf itself is an Asiatic fig, and is one of three trees famous for shading the Buddha as he sat after reaching enlightenment. Amie, my partner, sweetie, wife and more, painted the original art pictured here, and she suggested it as a fitting idea for an educational technologist. I must say that I cannot be so presumptous as to think I am awake, enlightened or hold any supreme knowledge. But believing that our lives all take paths that lead to enlightenment, that we seek supreme knowledge, indeed that we hold supreme knowledge that we strive to unlock and understand, that is the goal of every educator and student, whether we know it or not!

For me, being awake is enough at times. More soon.
